About Junkyard Surf

The Idea Was Simple. The Execution Took Years.

Junkyard Surf started in 2019 with one simple goal — find a secondhand board that didn’t involve chasing dead links or scrolling through endless listings.

Back then, we tried building a website. It wasn’t great. But the idea stuck.

Fast forward a few years — after work, after more boards, and a bunch of sketches and notes — the app was born. Built by two surfers from Margaret River who just wanted a better way to buy, sell, and connect with the local surf scene.

Junkyard Surf isn’t trying to change the game. It’s just making it easier to do what surfers have always done: trade boards, find good gear, and back the crew around them.

This is for the ones running lessons out of the back of a van. The shapers making boards in sheds. The photographers lining up the shot. The ones who’ve got something worth sharing — and just need a simple way to be found.

That’s us. That’s Junkyard Surf.

Born from frustration with spammy marketplaces, built for surfers

We were tired of cluttered platforms full of spam and non-surf gear. Junkyard Surf was created as a dedicated space for boards and surf services only — simple, safe and true to surf culture.

Connecting local surfers, shops & clubs through a surf-only platform

Our mission is to strengthen the ties that hold surf communities together. Junkyard Surf gives surfers direct access to local boards, businesses and clubs, all in one dedicated place.

Support the surf community with safe and sustainable board trading

Our vision is to put surfers first. Junkyard Surf makes trading safer with secure payments, simpler with surf-specific filters and sustainable by keeping boards in use and out of landfill.

Trust · Simplicity · Community · Respect for Surf Culture

We stand for trusted listings, simple tools, stronger communities and protecting the culture that makes surfing unique.
