About Junkyard Surf

The Idea Was Simple. The Execution Took Years.

Junkyard Surf started in 2019 with one simple goal: find a secondhand board that didn’t involve chasing dead links or scrolling through endless listings.

Back then, we tried building a website. It wasn’t great. But the idea stuck.

Fast forward a few years after work, after more boards, and a bunch of sketches and notes the app was born. Built by two surfers from Margaret River who just wanted a better way to buy, sell, and connect with the local surf scene.

Junkyard Surf isn’t trying to change the game. It’s just making it easier to do what surfers have always done: trade boards, find good gear, and back the crew around them.

This is for the ones running lessons out of the back of a van. The shapers making boards in sheds. The photographers lining up the shot. The ones who’ve got something worth sharing and just need a simple way to be found.

That’s us. That’s Junkyard Surf.

What We Stand For

  • Our mission is to strengthen the ties that hold surf communities together. Junkyard Surf gives surfers direct access to local boards, businesses and clubs, all in one dedicated place.

  • Our vision is to put surfers first. Junkyard Surf makes trading safer with secure payments, simpler with surf-specific filters and sustainable by keeping boards in use and out of landfill.

  • We stand for trusted listings, simple tools, stronger communities and protecting the culture that makes surfing unique.

Meet the Founders of Junkyard Surf

Brad & Tilly, two surfers from South West WA, built Junkyard Surf as a home for surfers, shops and clubs to come together. Every tool created is designed to strengthen local surf culture while making buying and selling surfboards easier for everyone.

Community & Clubs

We’re proud to back the local legends who keep Australia’s surf scene alive. Whether it's your go-to surf shop, a trusted ding repairer, a grassroots surf school, or your local photographer Junkyard Surf gives them a free place to list, promote, and connect with surfers in their area.

Junkyard Surf is building ways to support local boardriders clubs through future giveaways and funding initiatives. We’ll be announcing more soon.
